Routine physical exams are a great way to stay on top of your health and well being. Typically these exams are performed once or sometimes twice a year. You get a chance to sit down at ease with your doctor and discuss any health concerns you have.
The doctor will obtain a comprehensive health history including family history, medication history, general physical and mental health history and try to identify any hidden health hazards that you may not be aware of. A physical exam is then performed and based on the history and physical exam, the doctor will recommend tests such as blood and urine tests, X-rays, CT scans etc. You have be referred to a specialist doctor for more detailed evaluation or testing if needed.
Preventative health exams are focused on screening and advising measures to prevent diseases from happening or catch diseases when they are in a very early stage and not causing any symptoms and are thus "silent but deadly". This disease include cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, Obesity and many others.
